What comes to mind when you hear the word wealth? For most people, thoughts revolve around monetary riches. The more you have the richer you are. When talking about wealth, you can’t help but think of people like Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffet. Boy, do they have a lot of money! One could do a lot with a fraction of what these men have.

Monetary wealth is but one type of wealth. One can have a wealth of knowledge, wisdom, access, connections, time, or experience. Like monetary wealth, these too can vary from person to person. Whatever earthly wealth we may possess, whether with just enough or in excess, these too have been given by God as good gifts, and we are to render thanks unto Him.

When it comes to wealth, I can’t help but think of the blessings God has given us. Physical wealth may vary from person to person, but we all are rich when it comes to the blessings God pours out on us. He sent His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ, to die and rise
for you! He has poured out—for you—His mercy and grace. We now are rich in these things. Our sin is forgiven.

We have all God’s promises! We have forgiveness, life, and salvation! We have mercy and grace! The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 2:4-7: “But Cod, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”

As we think about wealth, riches, and blessings, especially earthly ones, let us live a life of gratitude toward God for those good things. Let us also keep our eyes fixed on Jesus where true riches are found, who so freely bestows those immeasurable riches on us out of pure love.
