All Our Days

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven  together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”-Psalm 139:13-16

Do you ever think about the author of life sitting down and writing out all of your days before He even gave you life? It’s striking, isn’t it, that your days are already written in His book? God has this to-do list, Step 1: Write my next child and all of his or her days in my book. Step 2: Knit and weave the child together inside of his or her mother’s womb.

This is one of, if not THE single greatest miracle we ever get to encounter. Sometimes as life carries us along, we feel further removed from this great mystery of the weaving. We haven’t been residents of the womb in quite some time, but the miracle isn’t any less astounding and it’s not any less a part of us. We aren’t in the midst of the weaving at present, but we are in the midst of living out those numbered days written in the Father’s book. That’s a wonderful work of God. We are STILL fearfully and wonderfully made. He is STILL worthy of all of our praise.

Dear God, Thank you for not only knitting and weaving us together in our mothers’ wombs, but also for the days that you ordained and wrote for us in your book before you created us. Help us always live with the wonder of that miracle of being your beloved creation. Amen.
