Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31

Proverbs chapter 8 brings a lovely portrait of our Savior cloaked as heaven-born Wisdom. And I love how the chapter opens with a question: “Does not wisdom call?” In the gospel through John we have an opening statement that answers the question: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Wisdom calling comes directly from God, the Word.

Take a moment and read all of Proverbs chapter 8. There is counsel. There is safety. There is rescue there. Wisdom says, “To you, O men, I call, and my call is to the children of man” (8:4). These days demand a listening ear. Speak to us O wisdom, O Word of God. Amen!
