Fifth Sunday after Epiphany: Epistle, 1 Corinthians 14:12b-20              

1 Corinthians 14:12b-20

Short and sweet today. Gifts of the Spirit or perhaps better, “Spirituals” in chapters 12 and 14 with the greatest spirituals (things of the Spirit) in the thirteenth chapter focusing on a description of the Christ as we saw last week. He is the ultimate gift and love, the “clothing” in which He comes.

Here as Paul concludes his order of living with bestowals of God’s good things, Paul reminds his readers (hearers) first, that seeking understanding is critically important. And second, that the exercise of all that the Spirit empowers us to do is primarily for the good of the other.

Knowing what God gives and then serving others with it. Simple. Powerful. Always the best method.
