Trust

Isaiah 40:21-31

Trust requires something or someone worth trusting. Have you not found that to be true in living your life? And perhaps you, like me, find little to trust in the world around us. Our Old Testament text for the week is filled with questions. Mostly from men. But there is one stunning question that comes from the mouth of the Lord. In verse 25 God asks Isaiah and us, too:

“To whom will you compare me, that I should be like him? says the Holy One …”

The text goes on to cite the power of our God in His creation (we need to think on this more) and in His limitless knowledge of it. I contend that our challenges as His children come to us when we attempt to compare anything or anyone to our God. He is like no other. None can compare with Him.

Do we trust Him according to His incomparable greatness? One can only answer that for him or herself. It’s a good question to ponder now and again. I’ll leave it to you.
