The "Just So" of Worship

Leviticus 9:9-18

Leviticus chapter nine opens the door to the instructions Moses gave to Aaron and his sons for the offerings of daily worship. Anyone reading Leviticus for the first time, if they make it through, will be stunned by the detail with which worship of the true God is laid out. And He is the one giving the instructions. We find out not too far along that Aaron’s sons decide to take worship into their own hands with disastrous results. Here yet, we see adherence to the instructions given by God.

I encourage the reader to take up the hymnal used in your worship tradition. Find a printed service within the book. Read it. And note the detail to be observed. Now, we cannot give anything to God for payment of any kind for sin. Jesus has paid it all. But we can look to Scripture and to our own traditions to find whether or not the hearts of the worshippers are led to offer right praise and worship to the God who has given all for our salvation.

Worship was never meant to be a free-for-all. It’s no different today.

Worship God!
