Last Sunday of the Church Year: Epistle, Colossians 1:13-20

Colossians 1:13-20

This is going to be one of those “read and ponder” meditations. I write every so often that the reading itself under consideration would garner increased attention from my readers. Of course, every one of my offerings is written with the great hope that you would dive in with both feet to the deep waters of Holy Scripture. And never, ever worry about getting your feet wet.

This week’s epistle is just such a text. Locked squarely in the middle of a full letter extolling the excellencies of God’s Son, our passage shines the light of Jesus in almost unparalleled ways. I would only ask that you back up to verse 9 and get a running start, realizing that our lesson comes following a prayer whose answer is grounded in the very Savior our passage exalts. And all for our benefit. Pray. Read. Enjoy.
