Save the Date

Isaiah 62:1-5

“Save the Date.” That’s become a normal part of the “getting ready” process for married couples in this day and age. It’s an announcement that many couples send out to ensure that those invited to attend the big day will mark their calendars well in advance.

Isaiah 62 begins with that sort of announcement. It’s a joyous reminder that for all the challenges, difficulty and sin that marked the journey of God’s people, there is a day coming on the other side of exile, that He will mark as a wedding. And if God is the planner (and more), you can bet it won’t be an ordinary celebration.

I’ll let you read the details. But remember to make the connection to what we will learn in Paul’s letter to the Ephesians and the Book of Revelation. That wedding is no Old Testament Only affair. Go open your Bibles.
