Resurrection’s Gifts
Second Sunday of Easter: First Lesson, Acts 4:32-35
Acts 4:32-35
Life, especially the new life granted to God’s people by Christ’s resurrection, was never meant to be lived in isolation. How often I have heard, “You don’t need to go to church to be a Christian.” I have serious issues with any “faith” that would allow for consideration of such an absurdity. Christ has saved us one and all. But He saved us to be a part of the “all.” Enough said.
In the abundant blessings of resurrection life from Jesus comes the changed heart. The heart that says, “If there is a need brought to my attention and I have the means to meet it in part or in full, I will do it.” Grace fosters love. Love gives attention to need. And through us, God meets many of the needs the world displays. Resurrection to eternal life doesn’t begin for us when we die. It begins when by God’s grace, we receive the merits of His sacrifice on the cross and His rising to indestructible life. It’s a life to be lived with others, for others, to the Savior’s eternal glory. God grant it.
He is Risen! He is Risen, indeed. Alleluia!
