Pleasures Forevermore
The Resurrection of our Lord: Psalm, Psalm 16
Psalm 16
This special week, this truly “Holy Week” I decided to call upon King David as author and worshiper for the divine insights shared with him from above. Psalm 16 moves us to consider God as God, as Source, as Life itself. Read it with prayer. In fact, after a time, let it become your prayer.
No doubt at the end there is reference to the resurrection of our Savior: “For you will not allow your holy one to see corruption” (v. 10). While David is secure in his own resurrection, the pointing here, as in the rest of the psalm is to “greater David’s Greater Son.” He is the Holy One who will not taste decay as all the dead eventually do. His flesh is guarded and glorified as ours will ultimately be and so the final refrain of Psalm 16 will become a lived experience for us. May we hasten the day and relish the thoughts of Israel’s true Sovereign:
“You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”
-Psalm 16:11
Blessed Day of Resurrection!
