Proper 18: Old Testament, Ezekiel 33:7-9

Ezekiel 33:7-9

Interestingly, just a few days ago I shared that the church in our day doesn’t do justice to the immense truths God has deposited with us. In the area of passing it on to others, that is. Here, the Lord who has made that deposit with His people puts some force with the idea by reminding His followers that there is a price to be paid for dropping the ball in this area:

“If I say to the wicked, O wicked one you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.”

Ezekiel 33:8

God loves His people, the people He died to redeem. And that means all people. The death of the Savior, nailed to a tree proves that definitively. And God’s pastors and all his sheep carry the responsibility of making sure as many as possible hear divine truth. “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ” (Romans 10:17). People cannot believe if they do not hear. Let’s open our mouths wide, dear Christians. Open wide.
