Once

Twenty-Fifth Sunday after Pentecost: Epistle, Hebrews 9:24-28

Hebrews 9:24-28

It’s one thing to argue that I have something to contribute to my salvation. Hence, the work of Jesus was insufficient. It’s another angle, but the very same endgame to assert that the once-for-all death of Jesus was insufficient. If you were to ask any Christian, “How many times was/is it necessary for Jesus to die to cover all sin?” What should be the answer? The correct answer is of course “once.” But perhaps a better way to frame the answer would be to say, “What does the Bible say?” That’s always the best route. And here it is:

“.... but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself” and “.... so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.”

—Hebrews 9:26b, 28a

Period.

Rejoice!
