Revelation 22:1-6

I’m intrigued by the Book of Revelation. Of course, I’m not the only one. Millions of people, both Christian and non-Christian have cracked its pages over the centuries and many have done so to lift the veil. What I mean by that is that human beings have an insatiable desire to know the future. Even when it is not given us to know ahead of time. The interesting point, or one interesting point is this: the book itself is an unveiling. But because we often are looking for the wrong thing we miss the point.

The very title of the book is “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” That’s it. The book is about Jesus. And He is so “primary” to the text that anything else we glean from reading its pages comes way, and I mean way down the line.” As the heavenly Jerusalem and its residents are highlighted in the text this week, we find this: “And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever” (Rev. 22:5).

Here’s a thought, and it’s just from me. The Light we need to glean truly from this marvelous book is its Subject and Author. If we stay close to that light, seeing clearly will not be a problem.
