Just Read It

Proper 22: Epistle, Philippians 3:4b-14

Philippians 3:4b-14

Paul begins this text by highlighting all the things that one might believe scored him points with the Almighty. In a saving way, that is. It’s quite a list. None insignificant. But none effective as a way to salvation. In verse seven Paul comes to this conclusion; that all his achievements are meaningless in comparison to one thing. And that is Christ Himself. Because Christ is Paul’s (and our) salvation. The Person of Jesus. Period. End of story.

So for today, read verses 4b through 6. Then stop, take a breath and dive headlong into the sublime truths of the remaining verses. “That I may know Him …” (verse 10a). Him. Him. HIM!

It’s all there. First to last. The Lord is my salvation. And we can know HIM. God be praised!
