Fifth Sunday after Epiphany: Gospel, Mark 1:29-39

Mark 1:29-39

Dear Reader,

As alluded to in last week’s gospel meditation, Jesus is seen once again being busy at putting bodies and souls back together after illness and assaults of various kinds. Thrilling and worthy of praise and adoration without question. Please do take time to marvel with those who ages ago saw these “Kingdom Intrusions” with their own eyes.

But don’t miss once again the primacy of the TEACHING ministry of Jesus. After a long day of ministry described above, Jesus heads out early the next morning to pray. Being found by Peter, (remember activity-loving Peter), Jesus leads them on into the new day, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out” (v. 38). The Word of the Lord endures forever precisely because everything else depends upon it. The Word of God is living. And so we are. Never underestimate the importance of God’s Word.

God’s great blessings on your week-
