From His Own Mouth
Second Sunday of Easter: Epistle, Revelation 1:4-18
Revelation 1:4-18
What a rush! This past week all came to a blazing single point in my mind this past Sunday. In fact, all of Lent this year pushed and grated against the spinning of the world to that place Sunday where I heard the first, “Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!”
I never tire of hearing it. We need to speak this great truth throughout the year, in my opinion, much more than we do. It is not a “seasonal truth” only.
Our epistle this week is the declaration of resurrection from the One who knows its piercing, powerful truth better than anyone: our Risen Savior. He declares first that His people should have no fear of Him. Not a cowering, in-the-corner fear. Then He admits His demise, “I died.” But we know it is not only a statement of death, but of coronation. For on that dread cross, Jesus was enthroned and prepared really, for what was coming.
“I am alive forevermore.”
Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!
God be praised!
