Twenty-second Sunday after Pentecost: Psalm, Psalm 119:9-16
Psalm 119:9-16
How do I walk in and through this dark world in a God-pleasing way? Well, the very first step is to admit your inability to walk in and through this dark world in a God-pleasing way. That necessitates that every one of us must yield to the truth about what God says about us, (cf. Jeremiah 17:9), for example.
In doing so we admit that in our own strength we cannot please God. But guarding our paths with His holy Word is of indispensable value in living well. God’s Word saves me. Every day. It saves me from the pitfalls and disasters that follow after sin. And it shines light on the path as a means of rescue when I have gone astray. None of this is to earn salvation, but rather because of its “already” accomplishment.
“I have stored your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Ps. 119:11). Enough said.
