Better Days Ahead

First Sunday in Advent: Old Testament, Isaiah 2:1-5

Isaiah 2:1-5

God calls and His calling is always clear. In our Old Testament reading for the week God makes a call that His people should come up to His house. Mt. Zion is to be a place of rest, rejoicing and restoration for His people. The nations gather, beat their swords into plowshares and warfare is ended. Sounds good, doesn’t it? The house of God will also be a place of learning as, “He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths”(v. 3b). He will and we shall. I like that, too.

Are you waiting for the day when all will be made right? The King has come to us once. He is coming again. In the meantime, have no doubt. The King is reigning. At the beginning of our reading Isaiah claims that he “saw” the word of the Lord concerning Judah and Jerusalem. Seeing the word of the Lord. Now, by faith. Soon by clearest vision.

Come, Lord Jesus!
