A Different Thanksgiving Meal
Christ the King Sunday: Epistle, 1 Corinthians 15:20-28
1 Corinthians 15:20-28
Thanksgiving Day, (U.S.)
Our epistle reading this week points to one issue. THE ISSUE. “But now Christ is risen from the dead and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Cor. 15:20). I say the issue because in the Christian faith there is no other issue on which its validity stakes its great claim. And the point I encourage you to ponder today is not originally from my pen, but it carries the full weight of the apostle’s words. Here it is:
“If Christ is risen from the dead, nothing else matters. If Christ is not risen from the dead, nothing else matters.”
Read and reread our text for the week. Then chew. Chew on the point expressed above. The point is not to swallow quickly. The point is to get every bit of “nutrition” from it you can. Enjoy the meal.
